Partridge Creek Young Guns 4-H Club: Members Head To Savannah, GA for the 2016 Junior World Championships
Weekend before last we had six members from the Partridge Creek Young Guns 4-H Club head to Forest City Gun Club in Savannah, Georgia to attend the 2016 Junior World Skeet Championships. The shoot went on for four days in extreme heat conditions. This was everyone's first Junior World experience.
Justin Haddle scored 93 in the 100 target, 12 gauge event. This was Justin's personal best. Justin and his mother Darlene had a great time and met a lot of interesting people. Justin was on Mike Dowling's (National Skeet Shooting Association Director) squad. Justin also shot the 20, 28 and 410 events with a gun loaned to him by Dave Taylor.
Trae Knight shot a 91 and 92 respectively in the 12 and 20 gauge. He had a perfect round of 25 in each of the events. His mother Mindy said he had a great time.
Larson and Smith Harkins were also there. Smith didn't shoot but worked hard as Justin's caddie all weekend. In the 28 gauge event, Larson broke the last 50 straight (under extreme heat conditions) and got his hat shot. Larson's mother, Mary Harkins, said about Larson's first 50 straight "it was so crazy hot out there, it made it even more rewarding for him". The heat was so intense that Drew Zaio, Andrew Streetman, and Trae Knight watched their referee pass out from heat exhaustion. Mary also mentioned Larson's comments on the way home. "That was the best week of the summer so far."
Larson's awards: All Sub-Junior Division, Doubles (5th in class), 12g (5th in class), 20g (4th in class), 28g (1st in class), 410b (2nd in class), HOA (runner up in class).
Drew Zaio scored 87 in 12 gauge and 89 in 20 gauge (with a perfect 25 in the last round). Drew also won a pair of Pilla shooting glasses in one of the door prize give a-ways.
